I wound up my street-side art show schedule for '08 at Athens, AL
yesterday. In spite of some early drizzle and cloudy sky, the show was
well attended, and I had my best sales day ever, with 21 pieces finding
new homes. Admittedly, all but three of those sales were from my "bargain
box," but I was still delighted to expand my circle of painting owners.
The stream of lookers never stopped after the show opened at 10:00AM.
In addition to the large turnout each year, Athens has been a venue where
people come to buy art. So many art strolls seem to be just that....places
to promenade a couple hours, eat some ice cream, chat up friends and
go home. That makes for a very long day for the artists who have gone to
so much trouble and expense to be there. But....Athens is not such a place !
Athens loves and buys art !
