I have now been on two cruise ships and have no plans for a third trip.
Cruising was the only easy way to see Alaska, but for all other places
I'd like to see.....there are other options. I know I am in the minority by
not embracing the cruise ships, because this is one of the favored vacation
venues everywhere.
The activities on the Radiance Of The Seas (Royal Caribbean) included rock
wall climbing, Bingo, casino gambling, Disco dancing, golf on the top deck,
swimming in an open pool (the outside air was under 60-degrees), mediocre
shows (with a couple exceptions), shopping, karoke (yikes !), and eating.
Everyone on a cruise (including me) over eats, because, well...."it is there."
The food wasn't gormet, but it was abundant and pretty good. I never
eat dessert at home but found my cruising self taking two....even three
desserts each evening ! Yes...I did gain a couple.....or three....
There were 2500 passengers on the ship, meaning slow egress at every port.
Also meaning....long lines at every event and sometimes no seats left. Too durn
many people.
I know I am not a "mainstream person," but cruising is just not my style.
Sorry....again, I know mine is a minority view.

I am taking a four cruise later this year as part of a larger group. Since I won't be alone, it should be fun.
Most folks love it. It is a very "social situation." The group should be fun !
"Four" cruise? A cruise! I have no idea what I was about to type, but the four does not belong there. Yes, I look forward to it.
Hi Larry. The only cruise I've been on was on a troop ship
going overseas. I saw your comment over at Virginia's.
I haven't wrote a new blog in a while, so every time I turn
it on, I have to login. If Jeanette's OK today, maybe I will.
I suspect your "troop cruise" may not have been 5-star, unless you had a full general on board. Thanks for stopping by !
I've never been on a cruise, but lately I don't want to set foot outside the United State of America, for a billion reasons. Give me a big V8 engine, some cash, and my poodle Andre and I am good to go from coast to coast. Of course, I haven't had a V8 in a while, have zilch for cash, and need to work every day in order to survive, but I can still remember! Blesisngs, Carol
Travel is much more difficult than it was "in the day".....and so much more expensive. Cruising, while not made for me, may be the best buy for
world travel. I like the V8 idea too !
